Basic Purpose

To ensure that all assigned tasks are completed in a timely and cost effective manner with a high level of quality, using safe work practices. 

We are looking for a Receiver/Material Handler to work on a full time basis for a large construction project in North Vancouver. Estimated Project completion date is November 2015.


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Competencies

Receives, stores and documents incoming shipments, materials and equipment and distribute to the job site and when required in compliance with company receiving protocols

Track and confirm shipments as required and communicate according to company guidelines

Offload delivery vehicles and store in an organized manner

Work with trades and assist in offload of incoming major materials and document receipts

Plan storage and lay down of incoming materials and supplies in advance of delivery to site

Maintain a daily log of incoming site traffic, ie, site service vehicles, visitors, etc

Report service requirement observations as necessary

Follow end of shift procedures, assist with lock up of vehicles, buildings and gates as necessary

Maintain clean areas around storage, lay down and parking areas

Follow all procedures as set out in the Site Traffic Management Plan

Immediately report to a supervisor and maintain confidentiality regarding any issues/observations occurring in the working areas

Travel off site in company vehicles for offsite pick up and delivery of various materials and supplies as required


Solid understanding and knowledge of construction materials, material handling and/or conveyance facilities and associated components

Experience in all aspects of receiving, storage and distribution duties

Ability to organize, shelve and palletize products, demonstrated experience in shipping/receiving protocols, procedures and documentation

Proficiency in basic computerized shipping and receiving procedures would be an asset

Forklift and zoomboom certification is a must

Knowledge of a construction environment and requirements for working safely around working equipment and high traffic areas including 2 way radio protocols

Other construction related certifications would be an asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills required
