Do you want to work in an environment that believes in growth and development and offers various career opportunities?As an Intermediate Claims Representative, in the Subrogation department, you will be responsible for analysis and review of intermediate to complex auto, property and/casualty claims involving various stakeholders (policyholders, third parties, insurance companies, lawyers, etc to cost-effectively maximize loss cost recovery through written and verbal communications, civil liability proceedings and negotiations with the stakeholders. You will:
Receive task assignments to manage recovery and subrogation matters, analyse the results of the investigation and documentary evidence and establish the possible level of recovery or payment.
In collaboration with the Unit Claims Manager, Legal Department and/or outside counsel, analyse the grounds for possible legal proceedings against at third party or insured.
Negotiate settlement with third parties to ensure the recovery of loss costs, according to the percentage of responsibility, taking into account applicable depreciation. Recommend or authorize the settlement. Handle and manage inter-company arbitration and/or mediation files.
May participate in Small Claims Court litigation.
Maintain effective communication and relationships with claims department and service providers, and provide quality service to external and internal customers. Answer queries related to investigations and the claims process. Monitor performance to ensure compliance and standards are met.
Coach and provide transaction support and guidance on potential investigation and disposition of the file.
Identify trends and opportunities that would support training and development in other areas of the organizations.
May develop and deliver informal training material to other business units on the concepts of subrogation.
University degree or college diploma and/or equivalent business experience
Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation (preferred)
Minimum 3 to 5 years property and/or casualty claims handling experience
Field adjusting experience will be an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management skills
